Humans are keenly aware of death and death’s inevitability, yet somehow most live out their lives imagining it a reality that only applies to others. Therefore while humans surely possess the mental capacity to absorb and comprehend more of the facts of life than the ‘lower orders’, the sad truth is that most use that enhanced capacity to precious little effect, whereas squirrels, like all so called dumb animals, more sensibly use all they know and everything they learn to maximum advantage.
